BENTOGEO GRIP TG is a composite waterproofing membrane based on sodium bentonite, consisting of three multilayer layers: an external layer made of polypropylene fabric with high resistance to puncturing and tensile stress (dark fabric), a central layer of natural sodium bentonite with a very high swelling index, and an interface side made of thick non-woven polypropylene fabric (light fabric).
The three layers are densely needle-punched, ensuring resistance to weathering until confinement with concrete or soil; the result is a self-sealing waterproof sheet, resistant to weathering during installation, perfectly adhering to the structure, self-healing, and with excellent mechanical strength.
Fields of application: BENTOGEO GRIP TG is a sheet used on all laying surfaces and on all structures, particularly foundation structures, exposed to groundwater even under high pressure or to simple runoff water.
Installation method:
• HORIZONTAL SURFACES (under foundation slabs): lay a lean concrete layer free from holes and irregularities to create a flat and clean laying surface. Lay the rolls overlapping the joints by 10 cm and turning them up onto the slab formwork. Nail the overlaps every 50 cm.
• VERTICAL SURFACES: remove formwork slats and seal holes and casting imperfections (voids) with waterproof mortar SIRIOBETON STOP. Apply BENTOGEO GRIP TG with overlaps of at least 10 cm and nail them every 50 cm. Any horizontal joints must be made with the upper sheet overlapping the lower one (“shingle-style”) in order to prevent soil from entering the joint during backfilling.
• GENERAL INSTALLATION NOTES: place the membrane with the “light” side facing outward. Do not make overlaps in the presence of construction joints. Stagger the joints. Seal penetrations and any casting imperfections with SIRIOBETON STOP mortar (or suitable waterproof mortar) or with bentonite paste such as BENTOPASTA.
Advantages: the membrane is self-sealing thanks to the semi-solid sodium bentonite gel, which automatically repairs normal structural cracks, and the joints are immediately self-sealing; it resists weathering prior to confinement and can be installed at any temperature, ensuring zero interfacial water migration immediately after installation. Application is quick and easy without the use of open flames, providing greater operator safety.
