SIRIOBARRIERA W belongs to a new generation of catalyzed monomer silanes, specifically formulated for the treatment of absorbent building materials, within whose capillaries it develops a water-insoluble but water vapor–permeable barrier that prevents capillary rise of moisture in masonry.
Fields of application: thanks to its high degree of penetration and protection, SIRIOBARRIERA W is particularly suitable for dehumidification treatments against rising damp by means of a chemical barrier applied through low-pressure injection using special injectors. It can also be used as a non-film-forming water-repellent treatment for absorbent building materials.
Directions for use:
• WALL PREPARATION: remove external wall coverings at the level of the treatment area. If possible, remove paint or wallpaper from the internal side to promote evaporation of moisture contained in the masonry.
• HOLE DIMENSIONS: holes must be drilled as close to the ground as possible, never exceeding 20 cm above the internal floor level. They must have a diameter of 12 or 18 mm depending on the material used for injection, and a depth reaching 5–10 cm from the opposite face of the masonry. The spacing between holes must be between 10 and 20 cm. When treating masonry thicker than 50 cm, or mixed or stone walls, two series of holes are required: one on the internal side and one on the external side of the wall.
• INJECTION:
– Equipment: MABI injectors, supplied by a pump capable of delivering a maximum pressure of 5 bar.
– Procedure: inject SIRIOBARRIERA W for approximately 5 minutes at a pressure between 0.5 and 3 bar. Injection intensity and duration must take into account the masonry characteristics (porosity and capillary diameter). As a rule, it is preferable to use low pressure and longer injection times to promote proper distribution of the product within the masonry.
• SOLUTION CONCENTRATION: from 5 to 15% of SIRIOBARRIERA W in water, depending on wall configuration. The concentration must be selected based on porosity and capillary diameter: the lower the porosity and the smaller the capillaries, the lower the concentration should be (minimum 5%). Dilution of SIRIOBARRIERA W must be carried out using potable water, ensuring thorough homogenization of the two components until a perfectly clear solution is obtained. Ready-to-use solutions must be used within 8–10 hours of preparation.
• PLASTERING: to apply the finishing plaster, immediately after dehumidification we recommend using a highly breathable plaster such as our SIRIOBETON IDR.
Consumption: approximately 1.5 L of product per linear meter of barrier in the presence of mixed masonry with a thickness of 50 cm, corresponding to a total aqueous solution to be injected of 10 L (1.5 L of product + 8.5 L of water).
Packaging: 210 L drum; 25 L and 5 L canisters.
Equipment: for product injection, we supply special injectors and pneumatic pumps.
