SIRIOBETON IDR NHL is a renovation plaster mortar for “manual” application, designed for the restoration of masonry affected by rising damp due to capillary action. It is a macroporous premixed product based on natural hydraulic lime NHL 3.5, pozzolanic binders, selected and dried spheroidal siliceous sands, with the addition of special air-entraining additives.
SIRIOBETON IDR NHL is breathable, anti-condensation, and water-repellent. It is suitable for old and new masonry made of stone, brick, tuff, and mixed materials.
Directions for use: during application and drying, the ambient and substrate temperature must be between +5 °C and +35 °C. During drying and curing, protect from frost and excessive dryness, as well as from washout and extreme weather events.
SIRIOBETON IDR NHL is mixed and applied with a trowel: apply a thickness of at least 2 cm. If greater thicknesses are required, wait for the first layer to begin setting and then apply a second layer. Do not float or smooth the surface so as not to block the necessary porosity. Allow the plaster to fully cure (minimum 21 days) before applying any finish/paint. Use only breathable paints such as lime paint, siloxane paint, or acrylic-siloxane paint. Do not use acrylic, quartz, or elastomeric paints.
Substrate preparation: the substrate must be dry, sound, free from foreign materials (dust, oil, soot, algae, efflorescence, release agents, debonding agents, etc.) and must have a pull-off strength of at least 0.25 N/mm². Remove any films of debonding materials; friable or powdering surfaces must be consolidated with a fixative or removed and restored.
Masonry to be renovated must be exposed by removing all traces of the old plaster up to at least +50 cm above the maximum height reached by moisture (never apply at heights lower than 1 m). In the most compromised cases, thoroughly wash the substrate with potable water to remove salts. If the masonry consistency allows, use high-pressure water cleaning. Wait for excess water to evaporate or remove it with cloths or compressed air. Only when the substrate is dry, begin applying SIRIOBETON IDR NHL in a “leopard spot” pattern to create an initial bonding layer. Allow to surface-dry, then proceed with the application of SIRIOBETON IDR NHL to thickness (maximum 2 cm per single coat).
Consumption: approximately 12 kg/m2 of surface per 1 cm of thickness.
Mixing water dosage: approximately 5.25 L per 25 kg bag (21%).
Packaging: 25 kg bag.
